A very special moment at our Family Fun Day
The Family Fun Day and Legends Soccer Match was a truly special day at the grounds, filled with laughter, community and memories. ❤️One of the most poignant moments was the official opening of a memorial bench dedicated to Newtownmountkennedy Area Sports Development friend and committee member, Stephen Murtagh.
Stephen’s wife, Evelyn, and daughter, Lucia, cut the ribbon, marking the beginning of a special place where everyone can sit, reflect and remember a much-loved member of the group and community. A huge thank you goes to Christine, Ciaran and Emma for the beautiful plants surrounding the bench.
The day also featured the Stephen Murtagh Cup, with the Newtown United Legends taking on Shamrock Rovers Legends. Evelyn, Lucia and Stephen’s dad, Nigel, proudly carried the match ball and cup onto the pitch before a heartfelt minute’s applause in Stephen’s memory.Stephen will always have a place at the grounds and in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
A huge thank you to Evelyn, Lucia, Nigel and the entire Murtagh family for sharing such a special day with our community.Forever in our hearts. ❤️🕊️
