Newtownmountkennedy is equipped with several Public Access Defibrillators, which are critical life-saving tools for the community. In the event of a sudden cardiac arrest, every second counts; using a defibrillator within the first 3–5 minutes can increase a person’s survival rate from less than 10% to over 70%.
Designed for Everyone: You do not need medical training to use one. These Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) provide clear, step-by-step voice prompts that guide you through the entire process.
Safety: The machine automatically analyses the patient’s heart rhythm and will only deliver a shock if it is medically necessary. You cannot accidentally shock someone who does not need it.

3. Turn it On: Open the AED and press the power button. Follow the voice instructions immediately.
4. Attach Pads: Peel the pads and stick them to the patient’s bare chest as shown on the device.
