Delighted to share that work on a new pedestrian crossing for Kiladreenan is due to commence next week!
My colleague in the Greystones District, Cllr Stephen Stokes, has been working with me on pushing for this one for quite some time. Everyone in the area knows how difficult and dangerous it is to cross at this juction if you are coming from Kiladreenan Close or trying to get to the bus stop.
It’s a tricky location as it is right on the border of the Greystones and Wicklow Municipal Districts. I am very grateful to Stephen and the other 5 Councillors of the Greystones District for agreeing to progress a crossing at this location from funding that had been secured for their district. The work is also expected to include some additional footpath upgrades along there, which are currently marked by the red spray paint.
As our town continues to grow, we badly need more safe crossing points for residents, especially kids trying to get to school, and there are more such pedestrian crossings we hope will be built soon working with my colleague Shane Langrell on those.
