Yesterday we were invited to Laragh Brockagh Centre for the annual Wicklow County Council Sustainable Development and Tidy Towns Awards.
Newtown Tidy Towns only went and won 1st place in the Main Street category for medium sized towns!!!! This is recognition for all the work our volunteers and those of you who came out in full force to help during the competition time. Goes to show the hard work is paying off. Thank you to all of you who have made this possible.
We also got a landscaping award recognition for our lovely trio of roundabouts. Massive thank you to those that have helped make this possible.
One of those volunteers, the legendary Pat Kenny, also won a Local Champion award for all his commitment to Tidy Towns over the years, and also the Community Centre, playground and several other groups around the town – well deserved!
Massive congratulations to rewild_wicklow who won 1st place in the Biodiversity category for their work with their native tree nursery.
There were also awards for Jacksmill Forest Gardens in the Communal Gardens category. Congratulations.
Newtownmountkennedy was well represented. ![]()
